An incident like this can often be the catalyst for knee-jerk solutions. In the City I reside in (Brisbane, Australia), a driver tragically lost their life about a decade ago when they were set alight by someone who ultimately suffered no consequences for their actions ("insanity"). The day after, drivers walked off the job, at the behest of the union, who wanted them to demand protective screens. Eventually the bureaucracy caved and decreed that new buses from 2025 would be equipped as such.
